Traditionally the Kadar people were hunters and gatherers. The Kadar people live in Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand. A smaller number live further east in Bangladesh.
They still live much like their tribal ancestors. According to Britannica, most live in the forest and gather forest goods to sell such as cardamom, ginger, sago, wax and wild honey. Typically, they sell or trade these for rice, their staple food. Their homes have thatched roofs from large palm leaves. A few are agricultural laborers.
They have a caste council to judge matters for them. The Kadar prefer adult marriages. The divorced and bereaved are allowed to marry again.
Hinduism is their official religion, but they are more likely to worship their traditional spirits.
The Kadar people need to allow Jesus Christ to bless them and give them life to the full.
Pray for faithful intercessors and workers to go to them. Pray that the Kadar caste council leaders will help their people begin Discovery Bible Studies. Pray that gospel recordings and the JESUS Film will lead them into a church planting movement.
