Spaniards are the native people living in Spain. Most are Catholics, though many now do not go to church and secularism is increasing in Spain as in other west European countries. Regionalism is important to many Spaniards.
Castilian is the main language of Spain and is spoken in the capital Madrid and elsewhere. Catalan is spoken in Barcelona which is the second largest city in Spain after Madrid. It is spoken in Catalonia. It is also the main language in the small country of Andorra. The Basque people speak Basque which is a unique language unlike any other language of the world. Bilbao is the main city in the Basque region. Galician is spoken in Galicia.
Spain is famous for its paintings, architecture and literature. Spanish cinema has been a big success. Flamenco dancing is well liked. Football (soccer) is the favorite sport among Spaniards with the big rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona being the biggest teams and who attract the best footballers in the world. Bull fighting is traditionally well liked in Spain.
Spaniards in Spain are fond of using olive oil in cooking. Education in Spain is free from six to sixteen years old. The Spaniards enjoy celebrating several festivals.
