Introduction / History

The Mundala are a Scheduled Caste. They are not vegetarian and eat rice. They live in Karnataka and Kerala.

In Karnataka the Mundala speak Kannada and Tulu. They prefer marriages between cousins. They are mostly landless and work as laborers, in government service, in business and in factories. They worship spirits. They are educated.

In Kerala the Mundala are very similar. They work as agricultural labourers. Some of them own land but properties tend to be small.

A few of the Mundala also live Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
