Introduction / History

The Fleming of Belgium live mainly in Flanders, northern Belgium and are a Germanic people group who speak Dutch. They are the largest people group in Belgium. Belgium came into being in the first half of the nineteenth century when they broke away from the Netherlands.

The Fleming are classed as Catholics but not many go to church regularly. They are to a large degree atheists and agnostics. They do not call themselves Dutch and the region they come from is important to them.

Married couples among the Fleming often have small businesses together. The number of divorces has increased. Fish and shellfish are well liked among them. Antwerp is the main city that they live in. The Dutch they speak is different to that of the Netherlands and though the Fleming use the Dutch alphabet there are some differences in it.

Prayer Points

Pray that God will find ways of getting the Fleming and non-Christians in west European countries to realize the importance of Jesus Christ so they will give their lives to Him.
Pray that they will find secularism empty too.
