Introduction / History

The Parenga are a Scheduled tribe that lives in the district of Koraput in Odisha. They speak Oriya.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They work in cultivation and agriculture. The women help their husbands in farm work. The Parenga are monogamous meaning that marriage is between one man and one woman. They have several clans. They allow for remarriage. The Parenga have a council to look after their needs. They have a low literacy level so the gospel will need to be presented in oral forms.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They have a tribal religion.

What Are Their Needs?

The Parenga people need the transforming power of Jesus Christ so they can experience His spiritual, economic and social blessings.
