Uriankhai is a Mongolian term used for forest ethnic groups. Uriankhai means uria which is a war motto. The Uriankhai Altai are a Mongolian tribe from the Altai Mountains. Most likely outsiders didn't know about them till the seventh century. At various times in their history, they have migrated or lived under the rule of others. The Uriankhai Altai live in western Mongolia.
The Uriankhai Altai have strict customs. They believe it takes nine generations for the blood to be cleared and so they marry outside their family lines. Families arrange marriages for young adults. A new bride is introduced to the groom's family. Everyone shows respect for one another.
They are officially Buddhist. Adhering to the Tibetan form of Buddhism, they focus their spiritual lives on the shamanistic element. This leaves them vulnerable to various unclean spirits.
The Uriankhai people need to submit to Jesus Christ so they can experience the abundant life he offers in John 10:10.
Pray that Mongolian Christians will lead the Uriankhai Altai to Jesus Christ. Pray for the Lord to provide for their physical and spiritual needs as a testimony of his power and love. Pray that the Uriankhai people will have a spiritual hunger that will open their hearts to the King of kings. Pray for a movement to Christ among them to begin this decade.
