Introduction / History

The Tsimihety live in the north and central regions of Madagascar. They migrated from the east coast of the country and came to live in Mandritsara. The meaning of their name is those who never cut their hair. They live in the mountain parts.

The Tsimihety have been anarchists. They have no tribal connections. Family, kin and ancestors are very important to them.

The Tsimihety are exogamous, meaning they prefer marriages outside of their group. They have many children. They work in agriculture. Rice is grown, and they are cattle producers. A dialect of the Malagasy language is spoken by them.

They are a large group of people and have politicians among them. There are seasonal wage laborers among them on plantations.

Prayer Points

Pray that Madagascar evangelical Christians will lead the Tsimihety to salvation.
Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ too.
