Introduction / History

The Pemon, including the Taulipang subgroup, are an indigenous people who live in northern Brazil, especially in the state of Roraima, as well as in neighboring countries. They have a long history in the region and maintain strong cultural traditions passed down through oral memory.


What Are Their Lives Like?

Pemon communities are often located in savanna and highland areas. Agriculture, hunting, and gathering are important subsistence activities. Community life values cooperation, storytelling, and respect for elders. Some contact with urban centers exists, but many villages remain rural.
