The Macushi tribe has their own language by the same name. They live in three countries: Brazil, Guyana, and a small number in Venezuela.
Macushi villages are arranged around a courtyard and connected by a series of paths. When a couple marries, they move into her family s home. Some aspects of Macushi life is communal, including child rearing.
They poison fish to catch them and hunt for wild game. But their main source of food comes from farming. Their primary crop is cassava. Men clear the land and women harvest the crop. Women also produce baskets and pots to sell.
Ethnic religion is primary, but the Macushis also have a strong Christian witness, both from Roman Catholics and Protestants.
They lack educational and employment opportunities, so the Macushis often leave their homeland.
Pray for Christians to help the Macushis learn valuable job skills.
