Introduction / History

The Gagu is an indigenous group that lives only in Cote d’Ivoire. Their heart language is Gban, though the well-educated among them also speak French, the trade language of Cote d’Ivoire.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Gagu people are farmers, but they supplement their food supply by fishing and hunting. They make clothes out of bark. Some congregate in the town of Gagnoa to trade and sell goods they found in wild areas.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Gagu people can be either Roman Catholic or Protestant, but their traditional religion has a strong hold on them. The majority only worships their ancestors and other spirit beings.

What Are Their Needs?

The Gagu people need to put Jesus Christ first in their lives. He needs to be the center of their spiritual lives.

Prayer Points

Pray that the few Christian believers among the Gagu will disciple others in the ways of Jesus Christ.
Pray for the Lord to give them an abundant harvest as a testimony of his power and goodness. May they respond with praise!
Pray for Gagu elders to find their way to the cross and the empty grave, paving the way for others to do the same.
