According to their own history, the Tennet people were part of a larger group of tribes until a dispute broke out. The dispute forced them to separate from the others. They now have their own language, Tennet.
Most Tennet people are sorghum farmers, though they grow other crops as well. They practice slash and burn agriculture which is not efficient for good crop yields. They also raise goats and sheep, hunt and fish. Because of their habit of having raids against their neighbors, the Tennet people have poor relations with others. Because of domestic unrest none of them live outside South Sudan.
Most Tennet people are dedicated to their traditional religion. However, there is a Christian minority among them that can be salt and light.
In 2022, the Tennet people received the New Testament for the first time. They need distributers and Bible teachers. On a practical level, they need the willingness to obey the teachings of Jesus Christ by stopping their people from going on cattle raids and stealing from their neighbors.
Pray for the Tennet people to have a desire to follow the teachings of Christ.
Pray for Bible teachers and disciplers to transform Tennet society.
Pray for the domestic violence in South Sudan to stop.
Scripture Prayers for the Tennet in South Sudan.
