Introduction / History

The Keder (or Kader) in Indonesia are a very small, close knit indigenous group residing in the

eastern part of the archipelago, with a distinct language and a predominantly Christian faith.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Their daily lives and socio-economic status are similar to other remote indigenous communities, facing challenges related to isolation and development pressures while striving to maintain their unique culture of church activities and community serving as focal points. As a small community they face limited access to essential services like reliable electricity, transport or formal education. In these remote areas, livelihoods often depend on agriculture, fishing or resource harvesting. They are gradually integrating into the wider Indonesian society.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Although the majority of Keder are Protestant church goers, only a very small percentage would be called evangelical. For some, they are confident of their own righteousness.

What Are Their Needs?

Keder people need a renewed faith in the only Savior, Jesus Christ. They need to put all their trust in him.

Prayer Items

Pray for a spiritual breakthrough where entire families come to faith in Jesus.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move through Keder Christians to take Christ to communities without a gospel witness.
