The Malang Dusun are a large indigenous people group on the island of Borneo. They live in the hills and upland valleys, raising rice which they traded with coastal people groups.
In recent years, many of the younger Malang Dusun have integrated into modern Indonesian society, pursuing education and leaving their villages in search of better life opportunities. As a result, the next generation of Malang Dusun are increasingly rejecting or ignoring their historic culture and ethnic identity.
The Malang Dusuns who continue to live in rural settings often practice animism. Some have converted to "Christianity," but most of these are Catholic. The new generations of Malang Dusun are more secular and, like young people everywhere, tend to disregard religion in their high-tech, urban lifestyles.
Traditional Malang Dusuns need to hear the gospel and be set free from the lies of animism. Younger Malang Dusuns are being caught up in the global wave of secularism. They need to realize their need for a savior.
Pray for the hearts of all Malang Dusuns to be open and ready to receive the good news of Christ.
Pray for the Malang Dusuns to be convicted of their sin and accept the free gift of forgiveness and eternal life in Jesus.
Pray for believers among the Dusun to share their faith with their families, friends, and gospel-starved ethnic communities.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully among these people, bringing many to put all their trust in the Lord, and allowing Christ to transform them.
