Staff Opportunities: Director of People Group Data
Position Summary:
Direct the organization’s effort to proactively, reactively, and systematically curate global people group data.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure consistency and integrity of people group data while also remaining responsive to the field.
- Actively network and collaborate with major data partners and the growing national research teams throughout the world.
- Actively network with key mission organizations, mission networks, and church planting networks to assist them with people group information and develop relational proximity to receive regular updates on gospel progress among people groups.
- Keep up to date and participate in global missiological discussions concerning people groups.
- Provide social science research mentoring for national and regional research teams.
- Develop a peer learning community for national researchers who are seeking to actively update people group information in difficult contexts.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the organization’s collection and presentation of data on unreached people groups in key urban areas.
- Oversee the organization’s moderation of nuanced information submitted from website and app users concerning people groups.
- Develop data management policies and procedures.
- Oversee the review and incorporation of data from other global people group and mission datasets.
- Oversee updates of all population figures based on UN country information.
- Oversee the policies of the organization in determining people groups to include in our data set.
- Actively seek out new data sources.
- Provide information management assistance and counseling to other Great Commission ministries.
- Oversee response to users’ email data inquiries and inputs.
- Serve on Joshua Project’s executive leadership team.
- Attend weekly organization wide staff meeting and any team related meetings.
