Summary
The Tanti are traditionally weavers, once celebrated for producing fine linens as well as everyday fabrics. Not long ago, nearly every home had a loom, and weaving was part of daily life. Today, their craft has been pushed aside by factory production and imported goods. Many Tanti families now survive on subsistence-level work, whether weaving on a small scale or doing other manual labor in villages that often lack clean water and steady food supplies. Some have moved into cities, gained education, and taken on better roles in society, but this remains the experience of only a small part of the community.
Ministry Obstacles
There are likely no known believers among the Tanti, and in the areas where they live, there are very few Christians at all. Without messengers to bring the good news, most Tanti will never hear the hope of the gospel in their lifetime.
That he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

Pray for an emerging, spotless and pure church among this people group.
Pray for the Tanti to have safe, reliable access to clean water. Ask God to stir a deep spiritual hunger in the hearts of their leaders, opening this Hindu community to the gospel. Pray for Tanti believers to be raised up who will make disciples among their own people. Pray also for faithful workers who will serve them with humility and love. Since the Tanti speak Bengali—a language with abundant gospel materials—pray that these resources will find their way to them and that their hearts will be ready to respond.
