Summary
1979 was a terrible year for the Rautes! Nepal's government forced these forest-oriented nomadic people into the hills. They were given land, and eventually most of them lost it to wealthy landowners. Most of them then returned to the forest, where they felt most at home. Bands of Rautes then took on new names and intermarried with other Nepali castes. Many villagers resented the Rautes, possibly because they had been given money, land, and homes as part of their resettlements. Although they have tried their hand at farming, their best skills involve finding useful things in the forest. Due to their forest locations, they are renowned for crafting and selling wooden bowls.
Ministry Obstacles
There are few, if any, Raute followers of Jesus. They will need to hear the gospel from less-than-trusted outsiders. These outsiders can teach them microbusiness skills to help their economy if people will accept them.
The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

Pray
Pray for many names in this people group to be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Pray that many from this people group are clothed with the righteousness of Christ.
Pray for the Raute to seek out God, who understands wandering, unwanted people. Pray also for a clear understanding of how to share the gospel with them from the perspective of God's own people, who, like Abraham, were often nomadic. May Raute nomads be given a heavenly home through Jesus.
