Summary
The name Khalpa is derived from the word khal, meaning skin, because the traditional occupation of the Khalpa was skinning cattle and working as laborers. Today, many are employed in other jobs related to farming and livestock production. Some repair musical instruments that are played in the temples during worship. They use their community name or "Rohit" as their surname. Different clans have their own clan deities. The Gaur Brahmins have their community priests, but local Brahmins also serve them. Perhaps workers who are seeking to take the gospel to every home in India will be successful in reaching the homes of the Khalpa group.
Ministry Obstacles
The Khalpa community lives in the state of Gujarat, a focal point for religious tensions and persecution. There are very few Christians in that state, so they will need to hear the gospel from outsiders.

Pray that this people would believe and proclaim, like Peter, that Jesus Christ is their Savior and Lord.
Pray for the Lord to raise up Khalpas who crave truth and righteousness enough to embrace Christ no matter what the cost. Pray for hundreds to be discipled in Christ's ways and to teach others. Pray that soon they will be praising God with beautiful music that will inspire others.
