Ngazidja Comorian in Comoros

Ngazidja Comorian in Comoros

Living on a group of islands in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Mozambique, the Ngazidja Comorians are a people full of farmers and fishermen! Though the young people living there often wear Western style clothing, traditional clothing is still common among adults. Children are expected to help with the farming, fishing and caring for the livestock. For recreation, the Comorians enjoy dancing, singing and playing instruments, especially horns and drums.

Ministry Obstacles

In the past, the Comorians have been very resistant to any religious change. However, more recently they have become more receptive. Any outreach through written materials would be difficult due to the high illiteracy rate.

Outreach Ideas

Working for education, healthcare and other crucial resources to be more widely available will help these people have better lives. Having believers minister to them through actions may lead them to Christ.

Scripture Focus

"For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you."  Psalm 86:5

Scripture Prayer

Thank the Lord that He is eager to offer love and forgiveness to peoples who turn to Him for help!

Prayer Focus

Pray that anyone working to bring the good news to the Comorians may be met with receptiveness. Pray that all of the Comorians would have access to all the things they need to be physically and spiritually content. Pray that they may learn about Jesus and be saved. Pray that more people would go and share God's Word with them.
