Mpi in Thailand
um-PEE
It is believed that the Mpi fled China 250-300 years ago and went to Laos. They were captured in a war soon after in Laos and brought to Thailand, where they have lived ever since. The Mpi dress and act like the Northern Thai among whom they live, and they speak Northern Thai fluently. The younger generation also speaks Central Thai, which they learn in school. The Mpi language is spoken by some but is becoming less and less spoken as time passes.
Ministry Obstacles Almost all of the Mpi are Buddhists, though they have also retained many traditional animistic beliefs. There is no Christian church in either of the two Mpi villages. How will they hear without a preacher?
Scripture Focus "Whoever says I know him but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him." 1 John 2:4
Scripture Prayer Pray for this people to learn and obey the commandments of God.
Prayer Focus Please pray that the Lord will reveal the way of salvation to these people and that they will respond in repentance and faith.
Pray for churches to be born in both Mpi villages.
Pray for an unstoppable movement to Christ.
