Tereweng in Indonesia
The Tereweng live on Gili Trawangan, the largest of three tiny Indonesian islands, which can only be reached by boat since there is no airport. One challenge of living on a small island is that most things need to be shipped in, which can result in high prices and scarcities. However, this island attracts tourists who want to explore caves and enjoy beautiful beaches. The Tereweng commonly work in the tourism industry. They also fish and grow rice and other crops. The Tereweng have their own language.
Ministry Obstacles
The Tereweng have their own traditional religion, which they have maintained through the centuries. We know of no Christians among the Tereweng. They need Christians to bring the gospel to their remote island.
