Khavar in India
The name Khawas, or Khavar, means "important". They claim to be Rajputs because of their close association with royal families. People from other castes can be admitted into their caste for a nominal fee. Khavars are Hindu people following the Vaishanav sect. Every clan has its own deity which a shaman placates. Their ancestors are honored on a designated festival day.
Ministry Obstacles The government of Gujarat has a history of persecuting Christians and other minority groups.
Scripture Focus "Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed." Revelation 15:4
Scripture Prayer Make this also your song of praise to the victorious King of kings!
Prayer Focus Pray for the persecution of Christians in Gujarat to stop so that the people will be free to turn to Jesus.
Pray that the Khavar will not be proud, nor consider themselves important in their own eyes. Pride is a deadly sin and often prevents a humble acceptance of God's gifts.
Pray for their elders to have dreams and visions of Jesus Christ that will draw them to the throne of grace.
Pray for loving workers to go to Khavar. Perhaps some youths from the Khavar community will discover Christian music and videos on the internet and listen to and view them with God-given understanding. Please pray this may soon occur.
