Laheri (Hindu traditions) in India
The word lakhera means worker. Laheris believe they originated from lord Shiva, who created them to prepare bangles and bracelets for his wife, Parvati. Some Laheris
Ministry Obstacles own shops where they work in glass and create bracelets and similar items for sale. They live in multi-caste villages. Their customs are similar to those of other North Indian Hindus. They have get-togethers to help people understand their community. The Laheris are endogamous, which means they prefer marriages to take place within their group.
Scripture Focus "Their offspring shall be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are an offspring the LORD has blessed." Isaiah 61:9
Scripture Prayer Pray that those who live near today’s people group will want their spiritual blessings after they submit to the Lord Almighty.
Prayer Focus The Laheri believe they have high status, whereas most Indian Christians come from common backgrounds. The Laheri will probably not want to associate with these Christians. Someone will need to make a special effort to reach the Laheri and other high-status people for Christ.
Pray for spiritual openness and hunger for truth.
Pray that God will send dreams and visions leading Laheri community leaders to the Lord.
Pray for God to thrust out workers to the Laheri Rajputs.
Pray that gospel materials will lead them to start their own movement to Christ.
