Gane in Indonesia

The friendliness of the Gane towards guests and outsiders is reflected in their willingness to show hospitality to all, even offering visitors a place to stay overnight. While the Gane have limited funds to provide this hospitality, they continue to give generously. Most are farmers. The Gane district was renowned for its abundant and high-quality harvests of sago, nutmeg, coconuts, and betel nuts. These products were the main contributors to the Gane economy. In modern times, most of these crops have been replaced with palm oil plantations.

Ministry Obstacles
The Gane confess Islam as their religion, passed down from one generation to the next. Many, however, continue to practice traditional pre-Islamic beliefs in their daily life. These beliefs are left unchallenged, and none have bowed the knee to Jesus.

Scripture Focus
"Jesus said to them, Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?"  Mark 12:24

Scripture Prayer
Pray that this people group hungers for and learns the Scriptures. Pray that these people begin to experience the miraculous power of God.

Prayer Focus
Pray for loving and anointed workers to go to the Gane. Ask the Lord to spiritually awaken Gane elders through dreams and visions of the risen Christ. Pray for the Lord to intervene economically, demonstrating his power and love, and pray for Gane disciples who will make more disciples.
