Lafofa in Sudan

The Lafofa people live in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. Though this people group speaks its own language of Lafofa, many of them now speak Arabic to match neighboring communities within Sudan. Similar to other people groups, the Lafofa farm and herd livestock as their primary source of income.

Ministry Obstacles
The primary religion practiced by the Lafofa is Islam, a monotheistic religion founded on observing the Quran and the messages revealed to the Prophet Mohammad. The Lafofa adhere to following the expectations of the Sunni Branch of Islam, which the majority of Muslims globally follow. Muslims in Sudan are taught at a young age that their religion holds the perfect law and the ways through which Allah wants them to live. Muslims believe that Christians adhere to following a corrupted holy book that is not as accurate as the Koran.

Scripture Focus
"And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever."  Revelation 4:9-10

Scripture Prayer
Pray for members in this people group to give glory, honor and thanks to the God who sits on the throne.

Prayer Focus
Pray for a spiritual hunger to arise among the Lafofa people, leading them to look to Jesus Christ for spiritual answers. Pray that the believers among the Lafofas will be both salt and light to their neighbors, receiving the truth, as they joyfully share his ways with everyone. Pray additionally that continuing discipleship may occur so that the Lafofa people can effectively spread the gospel.
