The Kunbu Khaire live in Maharashtra. They speak Marathi and read and write in Devanagari.
The Kunbu Khaire are monogamous, meaning that a marriage is between one man and one woman. They often marry their cousins and pay a dowry. Upon the death of the father, all the sons inherit a portion of the family property. Most of them own land and work in agriculture. More of them are losing their land and going into other kinds of work.
The Kunbu Khaire people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food, flowers, and incense to their gods in hopes of gaining protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. There are other Hindus who are much more philosophical, especially among the Brahmins.
They need to accept the blessings of Jesus Christ, the one who came to offer "life to the full."
Pray that gospel materials will lead the Kunbi Khaire to Jesus Christ. Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to salvation. Pray for a disciple making movement this decade.
