The Miyan or Miya are Muslims who came to Nepal from northern India four to five hundred years ago. They lived in the hills making military weapons for the hill rulers. They live in the capital Khatmandu, Ghorka and other places.
The Miyan have been influenced by certain types of Hinduism. They follow some Islam customs such as circumcision and burying the dead but do not follow some of the other Islamic customs. They speak Nepali and Urdu. They are similar to the neighboring tribes of the Chhetri and Bahun in some of their ways and customs.
Nepalese Muslims tend to be Sunni.
* Pray that God will give the Miyan dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that Nepalese Christians will help lead them to salvation.
