Introduction / History

We often talk about people groups who haven't had the opportunity to hear the gospel. In this case, it is the literal truth. The deaf living in Morocco find themselves without many opportunities, spiritual or otherwise.

What Are Their Lives Like?

In Morocco, not many students make it past sixth grade. Moroccan Sign Language is made by gestures and shown through avenues such as videos. There are few resources available in Moroccan Sign Language. This leaves them socially isolated. Teachers and parents are being taught to use software to help deaf children. There is now a dictionary to help with graphics and videos for signs and definitions. Deaf people from different cities in Morocco can now contact each other. Fifteen to forty year olds have the best knowledge of Sign Language in Morocco and contact each other on the internet especially in chat rooms.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Like the rest of the population in Morocco, the majority of the deaf follow Islam. With no Scriptures available in Moroccan sign language, they have few opportunities to find out about the Savior.

Prayer Points

Pray that deaf people will find and use gospel internet sources. Pray for the Lord to heal many of deafness, causing Moroccans to understand that he is all-powerful and loving. Pray for a movement to Christ among Morocco's deaf population.
