Introduction / History

The ancestors of the Turks founded the powerful Ottoman Empire which lasted from the 14th through the early 20th century. This 600-year empire began with raids by Turkish warriors and ended with the defeat of the Axis powers at the end of WWI. It was the last Muslim empire. Turks are proud of their history.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Turks in Venezuela came before the fall of the Ottoman Empire, so they are well settled. They are fluent in the Spanish language and know how to function in a Latin American environment. There are more of them in Venezuela than just about any Latin American country.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They have not, however, adopted Roman Catholicism or any other form of Christianity. The Turks in Venezuela are Sunni Muslims. They are the only Muslim unreached people group in that country.

What Are Their Needs?

Turks in Venezuela need the comfort of the Lord who provides hope and a future to all who call on His name.

Prayer Points

Pray for fervent Venezuelan believers to reach out in faith and love to the Muslim Turks among them. Pray for a spiritual hunger among Turks that will be satisfied by none other than the only Savior, Jesus Christ. Pray for a Disciple Making Movement among Turks to spread far and wide throughout Latin America.
