Introduction / History

For centuries the Ghosi people have been selling milk. This brings more status to those in Hindu communities than it does for those who are Muslim. Most are in India but a small number are in Pakistan. They are related to the Ahir community.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Ghosi people sell milk. They make their way to nearby homes and sell milk to neighbors. Some take a long trek to town, making many stops along the way as they sell their product.

What Are Their Beliefs?

At one time all were Hindus, but some have converted to Islam, especially in Muslim Pakistan. Like most South Asian Muslims, there are many Hindu-like characteristics that remain in their Islamic practices.

What Are Their Needs?

Muslim Ghosi people need the chance to hear and respond to the one who came to pay for their sins and offer life to the full.

Prayer Points

Pray for the eyes of their hearts to be open to Jesus Christ.
Pray that prayer warriors will be raised up who will faithfully intercede for Ghosi hearts to be softened to the loving savior.
Pray that Christ's followers will be called to tell the story about Jesus in a culturally relevant way, simple and appealing.
Pray for dedicated workers who will not stop until there are Ghosi disciples making more disciples.
