Little is known about the history of the Ghisadi people of India, except that they have existed in India for centuries.
The Hindu Ghisadi people live in India's western states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Some are toolmakers. Life is hard in a parched land where farmers cannot raise crops. They travel in small vehicles looking for work. They marry within their clans. This is probably the reason for their longevity.
The Ghisadi people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. They worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. Hindus believe that by performing rituals and good works that they will attain moksha or freedom from the endless cycle of birth, death and rebirth. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food, flowers, and incense to their gods in hopes of gaining protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. There are many forms of Hinduism, each with its own deities and beliefs.
Although audio, visual, and written Bible resources are available in Marathi, their spoken language, they remain unreached and unengaged with the truth of the gospel. Their greatest need is to understand the infinite love of Almighty God for them, and his provisional payment of the penalty for their sins.
Pray for families of Ghisadi believers loving and serving others to grow reproducing churches.
Pray for a chain reaction of Ghisadi families reaching families that results in thousands of new believers who share their faith with others.
Pray for grace and truth expanding into the entire Ghisadi society as all believers learn to love others.
Pray that churches and believers will bless this entire people group in such a way that God's love will change the Ghisadi people like yeast changes dough.
