Introduction / History

The Bhuinhar reside in 96 districts of India and Bangladesh, the largest populations being in districts Ghazipur, Ballia, Azamgar - all in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Almost all speak Hindi, but six additional languages are spoken as well. There is a much smaller population of Bhuinhar people in Bangladesh.

What Are Their Lives Like?

This is a land holding caste. They probably make good money and have high status, even in Muslim Bangladesh.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They are almost entirely Hindu, in both India and Bangladesh. These Hindus have a pantheistic worldview that is not easy to overcome.

What Are Their Needs?

Pray that strong movements to Jesus will bring Bhuinhar families into rich experiences of God's blessings.

Prayer Points

Pray for a growing awareness of a personal God, one who knows each person and cares for each person. There are some Christian believers among the Bhuinhar of India. Pray they will fellowship together, encouraging each other in the faith, bearing one another's burdens, growing in love and knowledge. Pray for the material well-being of the Bhuinhar, that they will be accepted by the castes and tribes around them and be able to properly support their families.
