The Bakuda are also known as the Bayala Bakuda. Most of them live in India's southern states of Karnataka and Kerala. Though they speak their own language called Tulu, most also speak the main languages of the state they live in. (In Karnataka, people speak Kannada, and in Kerala, people speak Malayalam).
Their eating habits aren't good; they cook with coconut oil and drink unhealthy alcoholic beverages like arrack and toddy. Unlike many Hindu groups, the Bakuda allow for the remarriage of widows and divorcees. Most are landless, so they are more likely to work in government services or as laborers. Development programs have helped to ease their poverty.
Pray that the Bakuda people will see their spiritual poverty and come to the Christ who can make them spiritually rich.
