Where Are they Located?

The Zay live on the islands of Lake Ziway. Some people that were initially from these islands have migrated to towns and cities like Ziway and Meki.

What Are Their Lives Like?

People on the islands have very little access to clean water, resulting in many water-related diseases and deaths. The schools on the islands are taught in Oromo (not the language that the Zay people speak), so many children do not receive a good education due to not understanding what is being taught. The majority of their income is from fishing.

What Are Their Beliefs?

All of the Zay people are Ethiopian Orthodox Christians.

Prayer Points

Pray for the health of the Zay people.
Pray the Word of God will be made available in their mother tongue.
