The Vezo are nomadic fishermen who live in Madagascar.
Family life is very important to the Vezo people. The younger generation builds boats for the elders. Everyone hopes they will be cared for in their old age.
They have always been a fishing people, trading fish for honey and other foods. They fish with lines, spears and nets. Some also collect wood or turtles to sell. Their culture is changing since the nearby ocean is being over-fished.
They have a tradition of worshipping their ancestors, and most adhere to ethnic religions. About one-third are Christian.
The Vezo people need the chance to find another line of work. In the coming years it’s going to become increasingly difficult for them to find the fish they need.
Pray for the Lord to guide the Vezo people into a better tomorrow economically and spiritually.
Pray for their spirituality to be centered around Jesus Christ and none other.
Pray for Vezo disciples who will make more disciples.
