Introduction / History

The Merah Punan community also goes by Red Panan or Wana Merah. Their language is part of the Austronesian language family. They are a tribal group living mainly in East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan provinces in Borneo.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Though they were once nomadic hunters and food gatherers, the Merah Punan people are now settled in villages. A smaller number still gather food in the forests.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Merah Punan have their own ethnic religion based on the spirit world.

What Are Their Needs?

The Merah Punan people need to put their trust and identity in the hands of the loving God of creation who sent his son to make it possible for them to enter the Kingdom of God.
