Introduction / History

Their heart language is Parya which may either be a dialect of Marwari which is related to Punjabi, or the Laghman dialect of the Southeastern Pashayi of Afghanistan. Within Parya is the subdialect of Laghmani, which is an endangered language. Though there are other Parya groups in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other parts of Afghanistan, the Laghmani subgroup is only in Afghanistan.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Parya are mostly rice farmers. They also grow corn and fruit.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Parya are Sunni Muslims. Not only are they in bondage to the belief that there is no Savior from sin, they believe in local spirits that can make their lives miserable.

What Are Their Needs?

There are few if any known followers of Christ among them. They have no resources available to them in Parya.

Prayer Points

Pray for a Disciple Making Movement among every Parya subgroup, including the Laghmani. Pray for Christ to thrust out His ambassadors to this small Muslim people group. Pray for the Lord to open the way for the Laghmani Parya people to hear and respond to the gospel.
