The Karo live south of the Mursi on the left bank of the Omo River. Their language, which is Karo, is related with the Hamer-Banna and has 81% lexical similarity. It is an Omotic language. They subsist through farming. They use the hoe to cultivate the land and rely on the Omo River for water. They also fish especially in times of scarcity. They have a ceremony of jumping over lined cattle, similar to that of the Hamer. A young who is able to jump over a large number of cattle proves that he is able to marry. They peacefully co-exist with their neighbors but at times get into conflict with the Mursi. They are followers of ethnic religion.
Pray that the Lord will open the hearts of the Karo to hear the gospel and be followers of Christ.
Ask God to raise laborers and intercessors for the Karo.
Ask the Lord to provide evangelistic resources in their language.
