Introduction / History

The ethnic group we call “Icelanders” have a narrow gene pool. Most are descended from the Vikings who settled there around 1000 and the captives they brought from the British Isles.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Icelanders are known to enjoy grilling and barbequing all year long, despite how cold it might be. Their foods are rich in fish, but they enjoy meats when they are available. Often their food is pickled or smoked. They also enjoy public baths, especially when it involves warm water. Clothes are optional in many cases, much like they do in Scandinavian countries.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Icelanders became Roman Catholic in 1000AD, then protestant during the Reformation. They are usually Lutheran, but like most Europeans, secularism largely affects their spiritual beliefs.

What Are Their Needs?

Icelanders need to put Jesus Christ first in their lives. They need to allow his teachings to guide them.

Prayer Points

Pray for a Holy Spirit directed revival to turn the hearts of Icelanders to Jesus Christ and him crucified.

Pray for Icelander disciples to make more disciples no matter where they live.

Pray for the Lord to reform and direct the decisions of their churches.
