Introduction / History

The Beti Ewondo are a Bantu group who live in central and southern Cameroon. They are divided into clans and can be found in small, roadside villages, as well as the capital of Yaounde.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Beti Ewondo are principally engaged in agriculture, growing manioc, maize, plantains, and groundnuts, as well as coffee and cocoa.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Beti Ewondo are synchronistic. While most became Christians during colonial rule, there was a resurgence of animistic beliefs and practices after Cameroon gained independence. It is not uncommon for Beti Ewondo to attend both church and secret societies, enlisting prayer and shamans when sick.

What Are Their Needs?

Some Beti Ewondos need a clear presentation of the gospel – that Jesus is the only way, truth, and life. They have been deceived into thinking they can pick and choose from various religions, embracing anything and everything they believe might help their situation. Their faith needs to be on the solid rock of Jesus Christ.

Prayer Points

Pray for mission workers, pastors, and true believers in Cameroon to boldly declare God's truth to the Beti Ewondo, and that they will respond by discipling those from unreached communities.
Pray for the eyes of the hearts of this people group to be enlightened to see and receive the free gift of eternal life.
Pray for them to give thanks to their loving God, who will provide for all their spiritual needs if they only allow him.
