The Boko people are an ethnic group native to the Diffa region of southeastern Nigeria and Benin. They are also known as Bokonya.
Most are pastoralists and farmers; peanuts, sorghum and millet are their primary crops.
The Boko people have their own art forms which involve music, dance, storytelling, and art.
The Boko people adhere to their traditional religion. They must appease spirits, some of which they believe are associate with their ancestors. There is also a small Christian minority among them, including Evangelicals.
They face serious challenges. They lack adequate schools and hospitals. Most of them are poor, and some have let their homeland in a desperate attempt to make a living. Their migration as affected the social structure. There are efforts to improve these situations.
Pray for the few Bible believers among the Boko to take Christ to their animistic neighbors and families.
Pray for a spiritual hunger that will drive them into the loving arms of Jesus Christ.
Pray for the Boko people to be part of a spiritual revival that sweeps Nigeria into the Kingdom of God.
Pray for miracles that will show the power and goodness of Christ.
