Introduction / History

Mbede people are also known as Mbete. They live in Gabon and southwestern Congo.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Most Mbedes are farmers. They don’t have a centralized political system.

What Are Their Beliefs?

At the heart level, the Mbedes are ancestor worshippers. They carve elaborate wooden statues to honor their ancestral spirits. They also practice Christianity, either Roman Catholic or Protestant. Christians usually worship their ancestral spirits.

What Are Their Needs?

Mbedes need to be freed from fear of the spirit world. The spirits cannot harm them if they cling to faith in the Almighty God.

Prayer Points

Pray for Mbede elders and family leaders to find their way to a firm and lasting faith in Christ.
Pray there will soon come a day when Mbede disciples will make more disciples.
Pray for a power encounter where the Lord shows himself all powerful, and willing to protect them from the spirit world.
Pray for Mbede workers to take Christ to other tribes in West Africa.
